Discovery of the Bacchus Cellar in Sarthe: A Viticultural and Historical Heritage

Located in the south of Sarthe, the Bacchus Cellar represents a site of interest for oenology and history enthusiasts. This former tufa quarry, converted into a wine museum almost a century ago, is a testament to the local viticultural heritage.

The wine estate of Claire and Guillaume Lelais hosts this cellar, which constitutes a notable point of passage in a region with approximately 200 hectares of vineyards. The initiative to transform this underground space into a place dedicated to wine culture highlights the commitment to the transmission and valorization of traditions.

The familial anchoring evoked by the owners sheds light on the importance of this site not only for wine production, but also for the identity and history of the Lelais family. The Bacchus Cellar is thus part of an effort to preserve and share a cultural and economic heritage.
