Tierceville: A wartime monument on a roundabout to be restored as a memorial site

In the commune of Tierceville, in the Calvados department, a traffic roundabout currently houses a little-known historical remnant. It features a replica of the Eros statue, which was fashioned by military engineers in 1944 following the Allied landings in Normandy.

Over the decades, this structure has suffered from the effects of time and weathering. To preserve this testimony of the soldiers' daily life and creativity during the conflict, local authorities have announced a restoration project.

The site is set to be transformed into a formal memorial space. This initiative aims to highlight the history of this unique monument and ensure its conservation for future generations as part of the regional heritage of the Battle of Normandy.
