Bayeux War Cemetery

The largest Commonwealth cemetery in France, facing the war reporters' memorial.

Bayeux War Cemetery contains 4,648 burials, mostly Commonwealth soldiers. Opposite stands the memorial with its Latin inscription recalling that “we, once conquered by William, have set free the conqueror's native land.” A wall commemorates 1,808 soldiers with no known grave.
