Pegasus Bridge
Bénouville
The bridge seized by British glider troops in the early hours of 6 June.
On the night of 5–6 June, three Horsa gliders landed near Bénouville bridge. Major John Howard's men captured it in under ten minutes, opening the way for reinforcements from the beaches. Renamed “Pegasus Bridge,” it is preserved at the Memorial Pegasus.
