The cliff stormed by Colonel Rudder's Rangers.

A thirty-metre headland over the Channel, Pointe du Hoc was assaulted on 6 June by 225 Rangers of the 2nd Battalion under Lt. Col. James Rudder. Bomb craters and shattered bunkers still bear witness to the violence of the fighting.
