The westernmost landing, the launchpad toward Cherbourg's liberation.
The westernmost of the five beaches, Utah was assaulted by the 4th US Infantry Division. The landing proceeded in relatively favourable conditions as currents pushed landing craft toward a less defended sector. The Utah Beach Landing Museum recounts this pivotal moment.
